I am currently the Coventry Lions Club’s President and have been a member since 2018. I first joined to meet people in town, but I love how much we give back to our local community. My favorite moment as a member was at the Chili Fest 2019, being next to my neighbor and having a friendly cook off between us. Coventry Lions has been an amazing way to give back to the town and meet new people. If you are new to the town, or a parent looking to give back, we would love to meet you.

I am the Coventry Lions Club Secretary and have been with the club since 2018. I love this organization because it allows me to give back to my own community as well as meet new people. My favorite moment from an event is seeing the creativity people have when decorating their trees for the Festival of Trees at Christmas in the Village each year.

I have been a member since 2008, I love the fact that we support so many community activities. I personally enjoy the socialization with other members and learning more first hand information about what is going on in town. My favorite moment as a member was announcing the winners of the trees at our Christmas in the Village event, I also love tasting all the samples at the Chili Fest.

Mike Carlson
I have been a member since 1983 and then resigned in 1998 when I retired and moved to Arizona. Since then I re-joined in 2013 and served as Treasurer for five years from 1994 to 1998. I was also Secretary for four years from 2015-2018. I received “Coventry Lion of the Year 1992-1993” and “Outstanding Service Award 1995-96”. I enjoyed the re-furbishing community center and building the band shell. My most most enjoyable memory was when Seniors Citizens baked cookies for us as a thank you for building six park benches for them. I am a “worker bee”, leading a project or soliciting donations not my favorite things. Helping others is the reason I’m a Lion.

My name is Joyce C. Bonney and I am a Justice of the Peace for the State of Connecticut. I have been a member of the Lion’s Club of Coventry since 2016. I have been involved with several events with the Lion’s including working the Chili Fest, picking up eyeglasses around town from the Lion’s Eyeglass Donation Box, doing eye exams for the kids of Coventry at the Coventry Farmers Market and at the preschool, but my favorite event is being Chairperson for the Holiday Committee. I work with Human Services of Coventry where they give me a list of items that are needed for the families who are in need of food for their Thanksgiving Dinner. At Christmas time Human Services gives me a number of families with their “Wish List” and I go shopping for whatever is on their “Wish List” and then I add an additional item or two as a surprise for them. To top it off, I work off the grocery item list and go shopping for them and other town families who are in need of a Christmas Dinner. How much fun is that? It is so rewarding to know that I can do this for them and be involved with a great organization who gives so much back to its community. I have been a member of the Coventry Lion’s Club since 1975. I like to say my position is the club’s Tail-Twister and Lion’s Tamer. I enjoyed serving the town in areas of need and serving with so many wonderful people. My favorite moment is being a part of the Christmas in the Village, seeing the happy faces and the comedy nights we put on. I also love doing the eye exams for children of Coventry.
